چکیده

The laser Doppler flowmetry (LDF) technique is a non invasive method that measures the microvascular blood cell perfusion through tissue. It uses the principle of Doppler shifts. LDF signals are non stationary. As other physiological signals, the LDF ones need an appropriate method to be analyzed and the extraction of the microvascular activities dynamic evolution is not an easy task. For that purpose, we introduce the S-transform method which was initially applied to geophysics signal analysis.

Evaluation of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome by Laser Doppler Flowmetry

Background:Autonomic disturbance can leads to blood flow changes that can be studied by various methods. Objective: To assess the blood flow changes in patients with severe carpal tunnel syndrome  by laser Doppler flowmetry Methods:Ten patients with severe unilateral carpal tunnel syndrome confirmed by electrodiagnostic examination enrolled in this study. Patients comprised one man and nine wom...

Human skin microcirculation after brachial plexus block evaluated by wavelet transform of the laser Doppler flowmetry signal.

BACKGROUND The skin microcirculation may be evaluated noninvasively by laser Doppler flowmetry and iontophoresis with acetylcholine and sodium nitroprusside. Wavelet transform of the perfusion signal shows periodic oscillations of five characteristic frequencies in the interval 0.0095-1.6 Hz. The aim of the current study was to investigate alterations in skin microcirculation induced by brachia...

Wavelet-analysis of gastric microcirculation in rats with ulcer bleedings

Nitric oxide (NO) plays an important role in regulation of central and peripheral circulation in normal state and during hemorrhagic stress. Because the impaired gastric mucosal blood flow is the major cause of gastroduodenal lesions including ulcer bleeding (UB), we study in this work the NO-ergic mechanism responsible for regulation of this blood flow. Our study is performed in rats with a mo...

Assessing the Effects of Acupuncture by Comparing Needling the Hegu Acupoint and Needling Nearby Nonacupoints by Spectral Analysis of Microcirculatory Laser Doppler Signals

We aimed to assess the effects of acupuncture by analyzing the frequency content of skin blood-flow signals simultaneously recorded at the Hegu acupoint and two nearby nonacupoints following acupuncture stimulation (AS). Laser Doppler flowmetry (LDF) signals were measured in male healthy volunteers in two groups of experiments: needling the Hegu acupoint (n = 13) and needling a nearby nonacupoi...

Laser Doppler flowmetry in manual medicine research.

Laser Doppler flowmetry (LDF) is commonly used in combination with reactivity tests to noninvasively evaluate skin sympathetic nerve activity and skin microvascular function. In manual medicine research, LDF has been used as a marker for global peripheral sympathetic nervous system function, but these results should be considered with caution because skin sympathetic nerve activity physiology i...
